Indexed color (color set of image has to be reduced to 256 colors or
less).
GIF
PNG 8 bit version

Alpha channel - Increased file size
BMP - 32 bit versions
PNG - 32 bit versions (some times called 24 bit with 8 bit Alpha)

Bitmaps should generally be used in fixed sized situations.
