William,
I used the ASP component SMTPsvg.Mailer to send an email directly from an
ASP page. This component allows you to modify the Email header ContentType
information which I have set to be "text/html". The body of the email is
then a simple HTML page with the code for embedding a flash movie. The
location of this flash movie is an explicit URL. when sent to my email
address, and opened in outlook, I was about to see the flash movie inline
with the rest of my HTML email. I am not really an expert on email or SMTP
technologies, but I know how to do this, and I know that it works for me.
I hope this answers your question...
Cameron

I created HTML stationery which when viewed in a browser shows the flash
component.
I saved this page in my stationery folder properly referencing the location
of the swf file.
This should work if the recipient has access to the swf file as well (ie
called from an intranet or internet source) much like embedding a wav or
midi file, which I've done successfully.
How did you accomplish this?
Sending over the internet, results will vary of course. You have multiple
SMTP servers with variable configurations handling the email. Some
companies convert all inbound email to plain text. While this might be
blasphemy in the web development world, it does exist.
Thanks.
William

I have seen many HTML emails with flash embedded in them, so I know that is
is possible to view them (in MS Outlook, anyway) I think that you should
approach this the same way that you would approach any other flash embedded
in HTML. given this, your solution will rely on the method you use to
create your email... If you provide more information about your particular
method of implementation, I might be able to help you further...
FYI, I have just done a test using ASP to send an HTML email to myself with
an embedded flash movie, and it worked fine in Outlook, but when I sent it
to a Hotmail address, the code for the flash embed was deleted... weird,
huh?

I have not been able to do this successfully with Outlook2000/Microsoft
Exchange Server
We have deployed Microsoft's Digital Dashboard [1] concept in our enterprise
and would like to allow Flash therein as well.

Hey everyone,
Does anyone know anything about embedding flash into an email?
Any links to tutorials, resources, or accounts of past experiences would be
greatly beneficial.
thanks and happy holidays,
