For "How could I have symbols unexpectedly replace each other?" then one
way we see here is when they happen to share the same name, or when one has
an odd name that is resolved to the other name (diacriticals, etc).

This is often correlated with larger projects, where the management of the
symbol library becomes more demanding.

I don't know whether this is *the* cause there, of course, but if I pulled
the right question from the description then naming problems are the most
frequent way we see on the list to achieve that.
