It's not written anywhere in the Flash 5 docs. Neither are the other major
problems with shared libraries, such as shared font symbols not working in
dynamic text, or changes to shared items not updating in the authoring
environment. Macromedia is certainly aware of these issues, but out of a
lack of respect for developers has posted no technotes or informational
updates on the issues, except for the last problem, and it *is* a problem
despite how Macromedia makes it seem.

All of the really useful features shared libraries *should* provide don't
exist in Flash 5. In my opinion, Flash 5 shared libraries are strictly a
marketing tactic because, in reality, they barely work and are essentially
useless. I don't know about you guys, but this is *not* what I paid for. I
think the issue is a PR nightmare waiting to happen unless Macromedia
resolves the it soon with a patch.

The problem you're having has was confirmed by a Macromedia Support
Engineer, Bentley Wolfe, on December 4 in the Macromedia Flash news forum.
