FLASH: Newbie question!

Hi All,


I am trying to learn flash (I have flash 5) and I am stuck! I have 

buttons within a movie clip which I would like to take me to 

different scenes within my movie.

Within the clip I have defined actions to the buttons as follows....


on (release) {

   tellTarget("/"){

   gotoAndPlay("scenename",1);

   }


Am I totally off base? Currently my buttons scroll through all the 

scenes in my movie (i.e. the first time it is clicked it goes to 

scene 1, the second time - scene 2, etc....)

(also - if anyone can suggest some good online tutorials I would 

appreciate it!)
