A--never use "stream" unless you have to.
B--never use "fast" unless you're testing, the final movie should always be
"best".
C--MP3 appears to be the best compromise of size/quality, but it's
subjective. (A lot of people, mistakenly think voice can suffer the
greatest compression without becoming unacceptable--but that's usually
oposite the truth.)
D--according to theory, 56kbps compresses sound will stream over 56K
modem... but you probably need to pad it a bit considering servers may not
keep up and there's other stuff coming down in your movie besides audio.
E--a preloader will solve most of this... and you can use Event sound.
F--finally, if you're going to have Flash do the compression you should
start with the HIGHEST quality .wav or .aif that you import into your .fla.
