Real audio doesn't require a Real server but does work better with one.
One suggestion is I would use Streaming Sound in Flash.
Now you have to wait for the whole file to download. With streaming this
would not be required. I would do a short preload delay (with If frame
is loaded) while about 10-15% of the file downloaded. Note Streaming
Audio in Flash is larger but will probably allow you to start streaming
quicker.
