You aren't being. It's good advice :) Intellectual property isn't secure
anywhere... ideas aren't copyrightable, or trademarkeable... you can patent
them but only the right kinds and with working models and things of that
nature :) (sometimes you can sell them tho, always handy ;) If there's an
idea you want to protect, only take your chances with a group of people you
know really well (and then prepare to be disappointed - sorry for the
cynacism myself ;). You can't know everyone on an open list really well. And
lots of (them/us) are probably lurkers too :) And parallel development
(independent) is actually quite common and then someone gets mad (that's why
lots of various kinds of publishers won't read unsolicited mss etc.)
