As the saying goes Matt, you can't use the 'word' you're describing in the
sentence that describes it. This refers to definition. Even though that's
true, you can say "In theory . . . " and use theoretically in the same
sentence, because you're referring to your 'theory'; the same thought. Yes
you can use the same word twice in a sentence. Why? One of the words may be
a noun and and one word may be an adjative describing the noun. It makes the
sentence confusing though, you want to write one subject to one line. We
have so many colorful words in the English language to use! Use your
imagination, I'm sure you'll think of something . . .

For example:

Remember the movie "Throw Momma from the train!"
Billy Crystal is trying to write a book and he says "It's so moist out
tonight!"
Along comes his Mother and she says "It's so sultry this evening!"
Billy Crystal says to Danny Divito, "I just want to kill her, or something
to that effect!" most likely he said "I just want to strangle her . . . !"

Funny movie, and it was a remake.

(By the way, I picked this thread on this email so I haven't as yet seen
what you have written, so I'm just commenting on this email only. In
reference to having said "theoretically" twice in the same sentence)

cYa,

Mary Brzys
