This issue got my attention immediately too, particularly in light of
DoubleClick's rather striking replies and characterizations of the subject.

Macromedia does use DoubleClick as an advertising agent. It does currently
access its cookies through the Macromedia site. Macromedia is not part of
the Abacus Alliance, and so from what I understand there's no linkage
initiated here between your cross-site viewing habits and the rest of your
consumer record. Folks here are working on getting something more
definitive posted.

Still, I scramble my cookies every few days, myself. I don't need targeted
ads, but I don't wish to unwittingly contribute to an opt-out database of
consumer profiles.

If this is a concern to you, could you drop a note to
privacyatmacromedia [dot] com, please? Folks on staff do try to tabulate
information requests that come in, and I understand that few custors have
found the "privacy" address... some DoubleClick concerns have come in
through the web-advertising accounts, and some have gone to customer
service, but if you could register your priorities at
privacyatmacromedia [dot] com then that could help reinforce the point, thanks.

Summary: Macromedia uses DoubleClick advertising but is not part of the
Abacus Alliance. Folks here are working on the issues, and your requests to
privacyatmacromedia [dot] com would be appreciated, thanks.
