Ken,
Check out the whitepaper & the comparison to flash.
http://www.pulse3d.com/developers/whitepaper.html
2 problems-
No Mac version of the editor yet.
Doesn't work on Mac IE, you have to use Mac Netscape.
Otherwise this thing looks like a serious contender to me.
Good points:
* Targeted for the masses by requiring only a minimum hardware
configuration of a Pentium 166 or Mac PowerPC equivalent, 16MB RAM,
28.8k baud modem. 3D hardware acceleration is NOT required.
* MP3
* Fast download times for plug-in (~355k bytes) and extremely small
content file sizes.
* Rollovers and clicks can be set to trigger behaviors. Two-way
messaging between the web page and Pulse Content. Buttons or pictures
in a web page can be used to trigger behaviors on 3D characters or
objects.
* Collision detection and physics can be calculated on 3D objects and
characters within your 3D environment.
* Reflection mapping, Bump mapping. Photorealistic images. Real
time 3D rendering.
Now this is really something for the Flash team to shoot for in the
next release, IMO.
ATB,
/wayne
