Subject: FLASH: crashing load variables
From: Neal Cabage
Date: Tue, 29 Feb 2000 20:01:17 GMT

I have found that there is a definite limit to the amount of info that can
be passed back to Flash, though I have yet to measure exactly how many
character that is or to find if it is solely a Flash limitation ... or a
limitation on the GET method imposed by individual browsers. Does anybody
know what the limitation is exactly?

The worsed part is ... that I found when this limit is exceeded ... you
can't load variables anymore. It's as if that function has just ... crashed.
You have to reload the applet in your browser at that point. Does anyone
know if there is an override for this problem in Flash? the only thing I
can think of is to identify the exact GET limitation and prevent the string
from exceeding that limit in ASP prior to being sent to Flash. Any way of
recovering in Flash if an when this limite is exceeded though?

Thanks!
Neal
