Windows has a built in (limited) sound recorder: start > accesories (or something like that) > entertainmant > sound recorder.
You can select the recording device in the volume settings (also found in the start menu).
If you happen to have a creative soundblaster live soundcard, their latest drivers (livewire) comes with a recorder as well (with
more options for saving the recorded file).
And if i'm not mistaken, Cooledit has a built in recorder as well - www.syntrillium.com
