Subject: | [OT] Active-x : the only way? |

Is it possible that the flash active-x control not be an active-x control or
is that the only way IE handles 'plug-ins'. I know the IE distribution of
Flash player is only available as an active-x control but was wondering if
that the reason was because it is the only way an IE browser can see the
Flash content. Just curious, mainly. I'm on another list of 'non flash'
programming issues and there is a huge debate going on about users turning
off active-x in their browsers.
The irony of doing that (disabling active-x) is that windows update won't
work and their browsers never auto update with new security features such as
active-x patches.
The debate centers around not that Flash can make a computer vulnerable but
that having active-x enabled does.
Any thoughts?
