Swift imports models .3ds file format (also 2d vectors .ai or eps files).
I can't recall if either of the two below exports 3ds, since they are free,
its pretty painless to check them out;-).

A couple that cost ~100$ and _do_ make .3ds are Nendo
(http://nendo.wingededge.com/) and Cinema4D Go
(http://www.maxon.net/usa/index.html). Nendo may be of particular interest
as it excells at making low polygon models that will be all the rage as soon
as Director 8.5 comes out;-). Nendo is just a modeling program, w/as Go is a
modeling/animation app. with a wicked fast raytracer.
