this was more of a general question of function. It was explained exactly
that a non symbol will scale from the edge you grab while a symbol will scale
from the edge and it's opposite as well symetrically. I was simply trying to
discover a way to scale a symbol from a single edge as a non-symbol does, as
a matter of regular procedure as I often find a need for it. I believe it
should be incorporated as toggleable feature.

Select everything and move it so the "+" touches one side of the symbol.
