Hi!
I'm a researcher currently putting together a proposal to hold a Flash
conference in Manchester in October of this year. As such I'd really
appreciate any feedback on what you might like to see at such an event. The
aim at the moment is to create a weekend event running on Saturday and
Sunday, priced around 75, and aiming at getting away from the usual
corporate and extravagant nature of conferences. We're aiming at an
energetic and youthful vibe to it, focusing on the art rather than the
business. Though there will be valuable networking opportunities,
inevitably. Current most likely scenerio is Manchester Conference Centre
(UMIST) on OCT13-14.
If you could give me some response on whether this sounds interesting or how
it could sound more intersting, I'd be really greatful. In particular, how
does a Sunday night party in a club sound? We're aiming at getting at least
one really good live act or DJ, and putting on an impressive audio/visual
disply interacting Flash visuals with the music. If you're interested in the
conference would you be intersted in this, or would you have to dash home to
be in work on Monday? Also what speakers would you be looking to see
present? - individuals or organisations. Is 75 too expensive? Does
Manchester sound like an attractive venue? Would you be looking to book
accommodation through the conference? Would would you expect to get out of a
conference, what would make it attractive to you?
Loads of question, I realise. I'd be really grateful for any ideas or
feedback, however, whatever anyone feels is important to consider. My
proposal is getting delivered on Friday so any input could really help decide
the final shape of the conference. I'd be happy to get back to anyone who
wants more information.
