First of all, let me say that to get as far as they have Macromedia has acting
in very exacting and intelligent ways, and I don't expect that to change with
Flash 4.
Next:

Actually, its not a half-baked idea at all, and in fact I have already done it
with Javascript!
Basically you call the URL of the HTML file that has the SWF embeded in it
followed by a ? and then the frame # (and a + if you want the movie to play
after it jumps to that frame. The code works for both IE and Netscape and is
available in the advanced FLA section of FlashZone under the name of
Cross-Browser Goto Frame.
