On wish number one you can already do this. Select a symbol on the

stage and double click on it. With the definitions tab selected in the

instance properties dialogue box, scroll through the list of symbols

until you come to the one you want to use to replace the selected

symbol. Select this new symbol and click OK. The newly selected symbol

will replace the original one.
