It's from a company called IPIX. They sell several packages. Basically it
is a digital camera with an 8mm lens attached and a special tripod adapter.
The lens lets you take one picture that covers over 180 degrees - you take 2
pictures, "stitch" them together and POW you've got a 360 degree image.
I work as a consultant for a company that puts together virtual tours using
this technology. It's pretty fun stuff. IPIX nails you, though - to stitch
the images together you need a key for each image - each key costs $25. The
cost adds up quickly.
I'm glad to see someone using Flash with IPIX, though, as this company had
said, again, that there was too much of a barrier to entry to use both Flash
and IPIX together. I'll have to look at the site.
