Subject: FLASH: RE: Site Check - Xaman

Hi People,

Thanks for responding to my request; the feedback was very useful.

>From the feedback below I have two questions:

* My SWF file size is 453 which is too large. If I remove the wav
file this drops down to under 100. Could someone please point me to where I
can find a wav editing tool so that I can crop it and make it into a loop?
* How do you make Flash start playing the movie before 90%?

I still have a problem with part 3 of the site where I intend to demo the
product. I have two options: (1) Do a screen capture using snag-it and
convert it into a QuickTime movie. (2) Take a screen shot, import into Flash
and Trace Bitmap (The size of each image is very large) and then create a
mouse symbol and animate it.

If I use QuickTime I need to be able to create a button within it that Jumps
back to the main menu (Not the beginning of the main swf file). I'm also
concerned about download times for QuickTime Movies (Is there anyway of
loading it so when they click on the button there is no waiting time).

If I take a screen shot and Trace Bitmap it crashes my PC half of the time
(Because I put it on the highest setting) and when it comes through the file
size is still too large.
To create a reasonable demo would push the file size over 1 MB.

Can anyone please offer any suggestions?

Cheers,

John M

Hi John,

the design itself I liked , very nice work...the dowmload time was way
to long but it didn't seem like file size was the problem. I noted
something in the neighborhood of 457k...is that right?
Anyway...I'm using a cable modem and it still took about 4 minutes to
d/l. Is it possible that you have the file set to wait too long before
playing the first frame? It didn't start up until about 90% of the page
had loaded.

respecfully,
- -Mark

hi john,

yeah apart from the long download its pretty kewl, I might be tempted to
speed up the animation a bit and make the "X"'s next to the main menu
options clickable...

yeah kewl though....
