If you're seeking info on "Can other people use Flash 4 on MacOS 9?" then
yes, and you should expect to be able to do so too.

For "What are the hot issues with Flash and MacOS 9?" then the big one
still seems to be the complications from Adobe Type Manager and Adobe Type
1 outline fonts.

For "What might cause erratic selection or fills?" then the first thing I'd
usually examine would be whether things become normal again at a different
display setting... if the problem occurs at 1024x768@32-bit but not at
640x480@24-bit then that zooms attention in on the video display.

(There's been a tablet-related issue that's vaguely similar, where drawn
lines went in unexpected directions, and this has been reproducible with
certain versions of drivers for drawing tablets.)

I'm assuming through all this that you're trying to do things you could do
before upgrading the system -- on a re-read the description can also be
achieved with particular grouped or imported curves, for instance.

I'm sorry that I don't have a single assured cause to give you in response
to the symptom presentation, but for what it's worth you should expect to
have the same easy results others do. It may be useful to look at the
drivers first, then the normal escalation to extensions and other system
customizations that might cause the difference.
