One method is to cut out the intro, place it in its own timeline, view the
frame properties in the sound property box ex. (35 frames) add another
timeline and place the loop after the the 35 frames......

Nope, all of the file that appears within the crop marks in the Sound
Properties window will loop.

Hello,
Is it possible to loop parts of a wav e.g the sound will play the
introduction followed by the main beat but when its finished, instead of
looping back to the start it will loop just the main beat.
