Subject: RE: FLASH: Pop-up window in flash -- ok to do it this way?

Mike, there are issues with this way or the other way. I find, most
often in ie that if a movie clip is playing a sizeable animation on the
page while excercising the javascript, it will not actually work until
the mc is finished playing. its an issue no one has brought up but it
seems that getting urls does not always work whilst movie clips are
going on . . . this is of course not 100% of the time . . .which makes
it worse in my opinion. would like to hear comments on this from the
group.

Subject: FLASH: Pop-up window in flash -- ok to do it this way?

We are using the following in our flash 3 files to open a popup window:

getUrl = javascript:void(window.open('form.html' , 'newwindow' ,
'height=600,width=400, scrollbars, resizable=yes, dependent'))

Doing it this way, we dont have to have any javascript embedded in the
html
which loads the Flash file.

Does anyone know of any reason not to do it this way, or any problems
which
might arise? Such as browser compatibility problems? We tried it in some
4.0
version of Netscape, and IE 5 and had no problems.

Thanks in advance...

Mike C
