FLASH: Re:Excel to Flash

I haven't been keeping up with "database to Flash" interactivity, but a

"possible" project in the future involves extracting data from an Excel 2000

spreadsheets and "somehow" displaying in a Flash front end. There is a

certain amount of interactivity also...Like entering a chunk of money and

having the "screen app" divide it up between five different areas and

displaying the amount of each category based on it's percentage of the

"pie".


I've worked with some folks in NY who have done this primarily with Java

applets, but I'm wondering about the alternatives....I know there are a lot

of 'savvy' folks on this list with much more programming and project

development experience than I. So what do you think, is Visual Basic the

only answer?
