I'm getting SO CLOSE !!! Now I wish I hadn't poured that drink, as my mind
is getting fuzzy. <grin> I had the DSN set to Excel 97 instead of Excel
7.0 and had the Flash load variable set to level 1 instead of level 0. I
have it now to the point of setting the Input variable within the ASP file
pulls and prints to screen (browser) the resulting variable name=data pairs
correctly so Flash oughta see them. Now I just need to figure out why Flash
isn't doing it. The Hardest part is this...see if you have any ideas...
PWS will only respond once. I'm not kidding. I have to re-boot to get it
to respond again. I tried shutting down & restarting server, shutting down
browser, no matter. I have to reboot to get it to respond a second time.
Driving me batty, since most of my coding is done by "well, let's try this"
and of course, when that wasn't quite right, I have to re-boot again.
Arrrrg.... I did read that Excel uses excessive amount of memory, but
resource monitor didn't seem to indicate that as the problem. Also noticed
earlier that nothing was releasing the connection to the server...that is,
connections were accumulating on the server status monitor. However, at
this point, the second attempt at connection, using a reload of the html
that calls the Flash movie that calls the asp page (sheesh!) does not ever
establish a connection to the server. So, I feel this<-> close to getting
the answer, but am running out of patience with waiting for re-boot.
I guess I'll send this to the list, 'stead of just to "D" in case anyone is
still awake. Anybody use ASP and Excel and PWS and Flash? Or am I really
just asking too much of too little? I just need PWS to keep responding!
Aargh..
