FLASH: drag movieclip

How with a can I get Flash to detect which symbol is underneath the cursor

when it has a 'drag movieclip' attached to it as well with  'lock mouse to

centre' checked (or at least the impression that it is locked to the

centre...)

 This is used in a game where the user scores points if they mousedown over

a target symbol which pops up in different places over the screen - like a

'slap a spice girl' or 'hit the rat' type game. The cursor has a movieclip

attached which changes image on a mousedown event.

Any ideas appreciated!
