Subject: FLASH: cascading menu system

Does anyone know how to implement a proper cascading menu system using
Flash? What I would like to do is to create a vertical cascading menu system
just like the TREE view of files in Windows Explorer where each folder has a
PLUS or MINUS sign next to it, and clicking on the sign opens the folder and
displays its contents immediately beneath. Naturally, one should be able to
have multiple folders open at the same time.

On the Mac, the nearest equivalent is the List view of files in a folder
window in the Finder, where each folder has a small triangle next to it, and
clicking the triangle either opens or closes the folder.

Please do not reply with explanations about how to make menus that pop out
to the right, or menus where only a single submenu can be visible at any one
time. These are relatively easy to implement, and are not what I need to do.
What I need to do is rather boring, but technically challenging. I have
already implemented it in Director, but it required approximately 300 lines
of Lingo code and is not super-fast when several menus are open. Plus, I
would like to know just what Flash is capable of, since I am not expert in
Flash.

Thanks,

Joseph.
