calling the swf directly is a quick and easy way to loading it into the
browser window. and ive been redeveloping my site using some
frame/html/flash/dhtml/css nightmare that was giving me problems and it was
easier to do it that way at the time.
in the end i just put it on a html page and called the javascript like
normal.
you can take a peek at my BETA SITE here
http://www.speakeasy.org/~derrick/clarknewmedia (soon to be
clarknewmedia.com), right now i have it set up to work great on pc IE only..
im sniffing the other browsers later.
thanks for trying to help though:)

that leaves me with two questions:
- why do you want to call the swf directly?
- how did you manage to link the javascript function?
thanks,
matt
