Folks here at the shop have been on the W3C's working group for SVG, but
we're still waiting for the 1.0 specification to be standardized.
What would you want to use it for? Much of the press material seems to be
on web delivery, although the hard part seems to be getting actual web
viewership. ;-)
If you're looking for a new file-exchange format or other use, could you
drop a note to wish-flashmacromedia [dot] com saying what you're hoping to
accomplish with SVG, and why other practical paths today don't yet suffice?

Hmm, I wasn't aware that Illustrator's SWF export doesn't yet support
selectable text.
