I have a few questions about .swf files. On my Mac, the associated
application seems to change depending on the where the file comes
from. I built a test and published the .swf. When i clicked on it, it
was started with a projector that I had published earlier (with
another .swf embedded in it). When I received a .swf through email,
it was associated with Quicktime. I looked at the File Exchange under
the Apple, but it didn't seem to have an entry for .swf.

I am guessing that the .swf that I published had an id in the
resource fork that somehow managed to associate it with the Mac
Projector I built earlier, but even this doesn't make sense??? I used
Eudora as a emailer, and I don't understand why it would call
Quicktime for the other .swf. The original email was from another
Mac, with Flash installed, so I assume that it would add the
appropriate mime-type to the mail which should translate to Flash.

All of this has me really confused. Are .swf's supposed to be
associated with an application, and if so, which one? I can open an
.swf with Quicktime, a flash projector, and with Flash directly.
What's the default? What happens on Macs that don't have Flash
installed?

If I email a .swf file to someone, how can I ensure that it will be
opened and displayed properly?

Is there a way to change a file's application without using ResEdit?

Paul.
