Hi Lara,
Authorware may be easy to use on one level. On the other hand, my husband
has been using it since version 2 very extensively and has pushed it way
beyond where it wants to go. He has built complete system engines with it,
that all people need to do is plug data into a database to create complex
CBT. We are using it with Acadia University to create virtual learning
environments. We did one (I do the interfaces) where marketing students work
for Quaker Oats to determine which 3 new products to launch. We built one
that teaches team building habits that have replaced on site training, and
have just built one for Nortel Networks that trains people on the ASP
servers. These have been built to react in different ways depending on the
way the user works through them.
He has also built simulation programs for the military that the navy uses
for refresher courses. They built one that simulates the entire running on a
navy vessel that every detail is covered, down to the t. Really, the uses
for Authorware are different altogether than the uses for Flash and
Director. I also know that he does a lot of scripting in it, although I am
not sure if it is an internal language or if it understands C or whatnot.

Authorware imports Flash 5 fine, except (and this is the horrible part), it
doesn't understand Load Movie, which is a bloody nightmare!!!!
