In order to use VB, you need to be on a windows machine...
There is no VB development environment for Mac, and
there is no software written in VB that will work on a Mac.

Flash, on the other hand, works on both platforms well; it
just doesn't have the capabilities of a real programming
language (not that VB does either). :):)

If you need more access to the operating system, and you
need it to be cross-platform, then you might want to look
at Java, or Director...
