That was me...
My comment above comes from experience with other professional guilds and
occurs where members will pay their dues and then use the fact that they
are a member to create an image for themself which isn't necessarily true
because the *public* sometimes don't understand what a guild is about but
rather will assume it's some measure of ability / qualification to do the job.

This is more to the point - a guild could provide a useful place for
exhange of ideas, information etc - but then we already have this in this
list ??
