I have hooked up 8 Wacoms pads here at work...
They work great. We have the 4x5, 6x9, 12x12.
The great thing about Wacom's (besides the fact they are the most compatible)
is the fact that the 6x9's and 12x12's have configurable macro buttons...
you can undo, cut, paste, etc all from just the pad.
Very handy feature once you get used to it.

All they need to work is an available Com Port. most all systems have 2 com
ports.
Most new systems have a ps2 port for the mouse.
Most internal modems should be taking com3-4..
This means the following:
If you have a 9 pin serial mouse, its probably Com1 (x3f8), and the wacom
should be Com 2 (x2f8)
If you have PS2 connected mouse, The Wacom can be either Com1 or Com2
If you have a serial mouse, and an internal modem at com1 or com 2, you will
run into problems. The solution would be to change your modem to take com3-4.

Another good hint for setting up a serial device like the Wacom tablet:
Make sure that you have the Com port (Serial Port) you want to get the
Wacom up on
ENABLED in bios... this has been the most common problem ive seen in
setting one up.

(Is there a Tablet Faq yet? ) hehe
