Carrie,

I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but, in order to change

the stacking order of layers you click on the layer itself, not on the

status (current, hidden etc) you will see a thin broken grey line appear .

While holding down the mouse button drag the layer you want to move. It will

not look as if it is moving until you release the mouse button. I am still

working on the other question if I come up with the answer I'll pass it on.

I really don't know if this is a possibility but I know it would be

extreeeemely useful.

It would be awesome if, like the ability to change the stacking order of

symbols on the same layer, you could change the stacking order of symbols on

DIFFERENT layers or change the stacking order of layers themselves within

the timeline.  For instance, say I have a layer that has a text symbol on

it.  I want the text to be invisible at the beginning of the movie and then

appear to "emerge" from the symbols that are stacked above it on other

layers.

I have had numerous needs for this ability.  If anyone knows of a

work-around to get this effect, let me know.
