Movie Clips??

I'm very new at this...(I'm so used to Director animations that I'm

afraid I'm finding this concept a bit confusing)...Can I just create a

straightforward animation after converting my graphics to symbols and

then create a clip from the animation?  I played around with this all

Saturday afternoon and my symbol library kept populating with more and

more symbols but none of them worked as the original animation did.  


Could someone just tell me how to go about creating them as a Flash

animation??
