Use "open as library" under File (PC shortcut: Ctrl-Shift-O) and choose the

movie you want to borrow from.  Its library will open with a lock icon,

meaning you can't alter that library's symbols.  Import the symbol by

dragging it to your new movie's stage or drag it into the library symbol

edit window of your new movie.


Open as Library doesn't work if you've got the other movie already open in

Flash.  In that event, however, you can just view the other movie (under

Window), open its library, and switch to the new movie's window.  The other

movie's library will stay open on the screen and you can drag elements from

it into your new movie.
