I haven't done any 3D work... being a traditional 2D artist, my idea of 3D

is visual illusion. I've seen people do some awfully nice things with

programs like Bryce though... someday :) But I can tell you a tiny bit about

Streamline (thanks JohnC! :) As it turned out my company owned this program,

but noone was using it. It seems fairly easy to learn to use... well in

comparison to Flash anyways ;)


What I'm liking at the moment is using it to get vector outlines that I can

import into Flash, and change as I like. Hand-tracing is best I think for

finished images, but when what I want is an outline to play around with for

an animation sequence, Streamline will do all the images and provide them as

vectors for me very quickly. For example, if I want to animate a person

walking, and I need reference pictures for exactly how the muscles move, I

can use Streamline to provide outlines for the whole animated sequence,

bring them into Flash and turn them into whatever actual finished drawings I

want. I also heard people talking about using Streamline similarly for video

clips turned into seperate vectors and imported into Flash.


If I allow it to do fills, it seems that I get something like the

'paintings' that Photoshop art filters give you. But fills and gradiants are

better done in Flash anyway due to the size and speed issues.


Anyways, that's how I'm using it.
