It's not wrong but maybe atypical.

True, and the actual numbers of Mac users on the Web has increased a
lot, but no where near the vast increase in PC users.

1) The sales figures that put Macs at about 12% are based on dollar
value. Since, the aveage Mac sells for a lot more than the aveage PC the
numbers of new Macs sold is more like 8% of the total PCs sold.
2) The sales figures for Macs have definately increased with the
introduction of the G3s.
3) More Mac users tend to surf the Web than the average PC user.
4) If you rely on MacToday and other Mac magazines as you source of
knowledge about state of the Mac world, you don't need rose colored
glasses to make everything look rosy for the Mac.

Bottom line though. About 5% of the hits on the Web are generated by Mac
users. It is expected that individual sites will have greatly varying
percentages of Mac users, normally in the range of 1.5 to 10 percent.

Please, note sites that make their statistics available may seem large,
but they are actually very, very small compared to the Web in general.
These sites rarely represnt the real situation on the Web because their
company and the clients they attract are rarely representative of the
Web in general.

There are a lot of good statistical survey's done on the Web, but most
are not released to the general public.

Some interesting facts.
The US lost its majority share of users the Web (probably in Novmber
or December).
North America lost its majority share (in January or February).
The Americas (North and South together) still have more than half of
all Web useers.
75% of Web sites in the World are in English.
Pages on the web in English are an even higher percentage.
