There's a good article and links at www.macfixit.com both on how to hack 

and not be hacked via cable modems, which is very possible, and easily 

prevented with dual ethercards to form a proxy/firewall.


Back when I suffered with the early revs of TCI cable modems, I witnessed 

first hand other machines on my Network Neighborhood. Very scary.
