Hi Colin ;

Macintosh
G3
Netscape 4.6 [flash installed] - both pages worked and displayed the flash file.

INternet Explorer 4.5 [no flash]
1) http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/flash4noscript/flash4page.html
this page displayed just a black screen

2) http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/flash4noscript/
this page worked and it told me that I needed to upgrade... with link.

I would be interested in your tutorial/ explaination as to how you were able to
display the flash animation telling "you need to upgrade" that would be good.
... I don't have flash installed for explorer??? *very confused* I have had
problems with detection on IE on a Macintosh and only display a static gif at
the moment.

thanks.

hi all
i'm back and have added a possible fix to the flash detector movie i posted
last thursday. i would greatly appreciate it if people could test the new
version to see if we finally have something reliable.

once again, visit this page first to see if you have flash 4 installed
properly.
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/flash4noscript/flash4page.html

if you saw the flash 4 movie on that page, then try the detection by visiting:
http://www.moock.org/webdesign/flash/detection/flash4noscript/
and clicking on the link that says "try it out" at the bottom.

if you successfully viewed the first page but were told to upgrade when you
clicked try it out, please let me know.

the fix is simply the addition of a preloader that should make sure all the
frames are loaded before the redirection get url actions occur. note that i
haven't updated the instructions or sample files yet cause i'm waiting to
hear the results of this test first.

cross your fingers, and tia for the testing...

colin
