Hi!
use labels instead of numbers .
you can name your frames in the begining of each animation, say "myframe1",
"myframe2", "myframe3".......
then just

Set Variable: "myvar" = random(5)+1
Go to and Play ("myframe"&myvar)

with numbers it mayme easier if you have your animations as a different MC's
on each frame,
then just do
Go to and Play (random(5)+1)
