This works great thanks!

But I am using a jpeg for the background ...
and I can't seem to mask this jpeg with a gradient from Alpha 100 to Alpha
0..
the entire blocking object is masked...

Oh well ...I'll keep trying.

Hi Tony,
just thought a little bit about your problem and came up with a very simple
solution.
Also I don't know exactly what kind of electrocadiogramm you want to do I
suppose
you mean the one with the "beep".
Ok here my solution.
First you draw your ECG in one layer, convert this line to a fill, then make
this
layer a mask layer. Make a new layer, the masked layer. In that layer you
draw a
rectangle, filled with a gradient with transparanent to black from left to
right
(delete the border and convert to a symbol). then you tween this rectangle
along
your ECG from left to right. While doing this increase the size of the
rectangle
(in the last keyframe). This makes a "trails" like effect.
