As I recall Branden Hall was working on something along these lines. But I
can't remember the URL I'm afraid.

++ Has anyone ever developed a application in Flash in which
++ the user could
++ build a diagram or object of sorts? What we need to do is
++ develop it so
++ that each piece snaps into place next to the object next to
++ it. We will use
++ this to build Electrical Schematics. The user could use any
++ part out of our
++ parts palette we will develop, but these parts must connect
++ together when
++ dropped, whether it would be side to side or up and down,
++ etc... Has anyone
++ ever developed an application like this, or does anyone have
++ any ideas? Any
++ help is greatly appreciated.
