Subject: | FLASH: UK Site Cahoot - Server Load Problems? |

Hi
We're championing the use of Flash for a high use (and therefore high server
load) Website running quite a number of transactions through a visual Flash
Interface. One of our technical people has come up with the following
information:
"On the first day of operation, nobody completed the registration process.
The site crashed with around 2,000 browsers using it. **(The amount of
Flash graphics was suggested as a possible cause.)**
After crashing, the site was limited to 250 concurrent users for 3 days. On
the fourth day the limit was removed and the site crashed again. It is
speculated that a limit (perhaps more generous than 250 users) has been
re-imposed."
The Flash content on the site does not seem to be performing anything other
than sitting there as Eye Candy...
Does anyone know, or has anyone heard of Flash causing this kind of a
problem with a high server load?
John Dowdell: Does Macromedia know of any limit to the number of concurrent
Flash users with either vanilla Flash or with Generator?
Can anyone shed any light on why the Cahoot site may have crashed that is
not related to Flash content?

Thanks
Simon
