Subject: Re: FLASH: salary in sf

I live in the Outer Sunset, about 4 blocks from GG Park. The Sunset is the westernmost neighborhood in the city, running all along the southern edge of the park between the Haight and Ocean Beach. In other words, it's a family neighborhood (largely Asian) with rows of cute, beachy 2-3 bedroom homes, modest by SF standards in terms of location. For a 3-bedroom house, we pay $2,200 and I walk to the park and the beach all the time. It's 10-15 minutes drive to downtown or an easy 30-40 minutes on the Muni (light rail). For a similar place in the Richmond, just on the other (northern) side of the park, the buildings are a story taller and as much as 50% more expensive per bedroom. And the further east (toward downtown) you go, the more you'll pay. Rule of thumb, $800-1000 per bedroom minimum, and not getting any cheaper until the crash. HTH, James

For those of you that live in SF-- I've asked this q before but lost the
email that had the answer. :)

If I work in San Fran for 50K doing flash development and web design, will I
be homeless?

Is 65K/yr more reasonable? The job is in Santa Clara but I would be living
in SF as close to Golden Gate park as I could get.

Please respond asap-- I'm supposed to get back to a job with my wage.
;) -- thanks!
Olga
