Apparently my earlier reply to this thread has been ignore for some reason.
For someone who knows scripting (shell script, perl, php, DOS .bat file
whatever) it is SUPER easy to batch convert a bunch of .jpgs to .swf files
using swift generator. (http://www.swift-tools.com)

With a help of some programmer friends i once made a flash frontend to a
text-to-speech engine. The text input was converted to wav using MBROLA,
the wav was converted to MP3 using BladeEncoder and the MP3 was inserted in
the flash movie using swift generator. (check it out at http://www.zwei.org
- beware everythings in german ;))

The hardest part was to get the text-to-speech engine up and running, the
script for the generator to replace the sound was done by a friend in half
an hour.
You simply create one Template swf which includes a dummy *.jpg. Then write
a script which batch replaces the image to be exchanged and the output
filename and your done !

Bye,
Till
