Subject: FLASH: JPG or GIF: what's the best setting?
From: cj

Hello Flash Gurus.

I have this problem with "print screens", meaning I view an html document
in a browser and then
hit the "print screen" button on my PC. I then use that element in photoshop
to convert it into a GIF (I have tried 32 color & 256 color) or JPG (I've tried
it at 3,4,5).

I have a 1028 x 768 monitor and it looks fine with very minor spots with
low resolution (pixelation going on). The Flash movie is set @ 550 x 400
(default).
But I've save the print screens at 1028x768, 800 x 600, 640 x 480 (both as
JPG & GIFs) and it looks terrible at all these settings when viewing it on a 800
x 600 monitor.
I've gone from FS (full screen) to regular (550 x 400) published settings, and
still the same: crummy looking pictures! The pictures (only 8) are print screens

of a program and flash is used to explain the different features of the program.

The pictures do not animate at all, only the vector elements over the screens.

The final product will be used for an intranet web site. Any recommendations
on how I can get the best quality images? I have a co-worker who is
working with Director to see if that may do a better job. It seemed to work
for some of the tests we did, but we will be tackling this all day to day.

I appreciate your help!! Please reply to : cjpostateudoramail [dot] com.

Cristy
