sure, my site does that.. without generator
http://www.schoolmate.com/calendars/swf/ look under easy ordering... all of
the menu options AND the menus themselves get there info and the number of
items to display in the menu from an external file... if my menu thingy was
documented i would send you a copy... but it isn't and it is a bit of a
bear... but it can be done....

first off set up your movie to load the file :oP
in the file have it set up like this

&MenuChoices=2&
&HeaderLabel=Choose your Direction.&
&Option1Label=Gimme the Cash!&
&Option1Value=http://www.ThisIsFictionalURL.com/&;
&Option1Action=GetUrl&
&Option1Target=_Blank&
&Option1OPT1=i really don't have anything to put in here :oP&
&Option1OPT2=More of nothing... etc...&
&Option2Label=i would like to go to a Happy Place&
&Option2Value=joe&
&Option2Action=FS&
&Option2Target=email&

yes i know i use &'s on either side of the veriable, it seems to work better
that way... to break it down, in the movie for the button the generic script
would be

on click
if action eq GetUrl
geturl option1Value, target= option1Target etc etc

if you get really creative it could break down to

i = 0
x = MenuChoices

loop while i <= x
if option&"i"action eq GetUrl
geturl option&"i"&value target=option&"i"&target etc etc
i = i + 1

man that confused me... i hope you do better then i did explaining it :o)

Subject: FLASH: flash buttons: dynamic url?

does anyone know how to grab a URL from a text file and import it into a
Flash movie dynamically?
I need to create Flash buttons that look to an external text file, or to the
text on the HTML page, find plain text URL, and use it for the button's "GET
URL" command...

thanks!
